Register for the Inaugural KDIGO GEMs on Glomerular Diseases
The countdown is on for the first-ever KDIGO GEMs (Guideline Education Meetings)—an exciting new virtual education program on the latest KDIGO Guidelines and evidence-based updates. Available in multiple time zones on January 13 and 14, KDIGO GEMs is designed to empower healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to understand and apply KDIGO recommendations in real-world clinical practice.
The inaugural KDIGO GEMs will focus on glomerular diseases, offering an in-depth exploration of topics like Lupus Nephritis, ANCA-associated Vasculitis, IgA Nephropathy (IgAN), and Complement-Mediated Kidney Disease. Through interactive presentations and real-world case-based discussions, participants will gain insights into the most effective ways to apply KDIGO’s recommendations in their daily practice. Each session will also feature live Q&A opportunities, offering a chance to engage with leading experts on challenging clinical scenarios and cutting-edge strategies.
"As an organization, KDIGO is dedicated to being responsive to the needs of the nephrology community," said Brad Rovin, MD (United States), Co-Chair of the KDIGO Glomerular Diseases, AAV, IgAN, and Lupus Nephritis Guidelines. "We had a lot of feedback on the Glomerular Diseases Guidelines, with many nephrologists wanting real-world examples of how to implement the recommendations and practice points in daily practice. The KDIGO GEMs program was developed to address this need. By focusing on practical, actionable insights, this program aims to bridge the gap between evidence and practice, empowering healthcare professionals to deliver the best possible care for their patients."

Green Dialysis Controversies Conference Scope of Work Available for Public Review
KDIGO is holding a Controversies Conference on Green Dialysis: Environmentally Sustainable Care, Growth, and Innovation. The conference will take place in Berlin, Germany, in April 2025. The conference will be co-chaired by Katherine Barraclough, MD (Australia) and Jennifer Flythe, MD (United States).
KDIGO makes preliminary Scope of Work documents available for public review before final planning of any Controversies Conference. We invite you to share your comments on the Scope of Work via the feedback form on the conference website. Kindly submit your feedback no later than Monday, January 13.
Innovative “green dialysis” initiatives have been successfully implemented in the UK, EU, Australia, and beyond. The challenge now is to achieve rapid, widespread adoption globally while driving advancements in technology and care models. In hemodialysis, priorities include developing efficient water purification systems and energy-saving equipment. For peritoneal dialysis, point-of-care dialysate generation could cut carbon emissions from transport. Across both modalities, adopting bioplastics or reducing disposable materials could significantly lessen environmental impact.
KDIGO has previously explored topics like optimal dialysis prescriptions, blood pressure management, and symptom burden reduction. This conference aims to look ahead, evaluating current and future green dialysis technologies. Visit the conference website or download the Scope of Work.
